Mr. Carey W. Hepler earned his QFD Black Belt® Certification and Trainer license from the QFD Institute in 2008 and was awarded the International Akao Prize® for Excellence in QFD in 2010 for his work in applying QFD to the US health insurance marketplace. Mr. Hepler is a member of the US technical committee that develops the ISO 16355 standard for QFD. He is also a Six Sigma Black Belt, an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Black Belt, a Net Promoter System Champion, and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He holds an MBA from the University of Florida.

Mr. Hepler began his career as a quality analyst and quality manager at AT&T Universal Card Services, which received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1992. He joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida in 2002 as marketing analytics director and later became innovation director when he began to incorporate QFD into their product development process. His work in the fast-changing US healthcare sector has continued to his current position as Net Promoter System Champion at UnitedHealth Group where he is integrating QFD to improve consumer experiences.
